February Program Meeting ~ Sunday, February 9, 2025 2 p.m.
The next program of the Ravena Coeymans Historical Society, scheduled for February 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., will feature Peter and Zachary Clouse recounting the heroism and sacrifice of two Albany County young men who fought in World War II. One was awarded a Bronze Star for his actions and the other, a Purple Heart. One came back, raised a family and lived his life, and the other did not.
After spending five years of research, Peter and Zachary Clouse, pieced together a story of ambush and rescue from records and accounts scattered across the country and detailed the heroic actions of their Uncle James Scalzo and those of Private John Greschiak,19, of Watervliet, NY, who was killed that day.
Zachary grew up fascinated with the history of the Second World War, which inspired him to capture and preserve veteran stories of the Greatest Generation. A graduate of Siena College and a videographer for the NBC local affiliated television station, Zachary produced an award–winning documentary Herrmann about a local World War II soldier
A graduate of the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and Union College, Peter Clouse served for over 20 years as an Albany County Legislator and worked for the New York State Assembly and Departments of State and Environmental Conservation.
Open to the public, the program will be held in the museum, located in the rear entrance of the Ravena municipal building, accessible to the handicapped.
